Respect, Relationship & Purpose: the three things employees crave at work.
Here’s a crazy statistic: *More than half
of employees across the world (6,000 in the U.S., UK and Australia) say their job “just pays the bill.” And only 23% say that they’re excited and challenged by their work.
Its no surprise that in 2018 an estimated one in four employees were expected to leave their jobs
And that turnover costs employers $600 billion every year.
Forbes calls it the highest turnover rates in the past decade. So, what’s causing such high turnover? Well, research shows employees pointed to three key demotivators at work, including feeling:
1. Not recognized
2. Not valued
3. Poorly managed
23% of employees say they’re excited and challenged by their work
Research has shown that there are three cravings that employers must fill to create the environment for true employee motivation...
Respect: Feeling respected and appreciated as a person and for the work they do.
Purpose: Understanding how they make a difference on their team, for the customer, or for the company as a whole.
Relationships: Building stronger connections with the people they work with, especially their immediate boss or manager.
As salon owners we are normally fearful that your employees are going to grow and leave. But if you are creating the best environment for them, create goals that support their aspirations they will stay, and not only stay, but be happy doing so. *Source: Work Institute
