☝🏻🤓 LOVE this explanation and the context of the point!
- In order to LOSE fat, you’ve got to USE fat.
- Make sure it’s YOUR (stored) fat instead of dietary (consumed) fat by creating an energy deficit!
Why it's easier to lose fat eating a low carb diet! 👇
Our bodies don't start burning fat until our carb storage (glycogen) is empty. If we continue to fill it up (by eating carbs) throughout the day, it is likely not going to be empty until the middle of the night, at which point we start utilising fat. 💤 If you aren't fat adapted, it can be pretty miserable when your glycogen runs out during the day!
When you eat a low carb diet, your carb storage is always low. You are burning fat (either ingested or from storage) for energy! 🏃♀️ If you eat more, less will come from storage. If you eat less, more will come from storage. Either way, the transition between the two is seamless.
This is how I think of macros on a ketogenic diet:
🥩 protein is a GOAL - always hit your required goal
🍌 carbs are a LIMIT - try to stay under this number
🥑 fat is a LEVER - if you need more energy, eat more fat; if you're trying to lose weight, eat less
Which storage tank are you running on, carbs or fat? 🤸♀️
