I found myself coming to the Lord again last night and reminding Him of the dream I have in my heart that feels like it has an expiration date.
I was on my knees pleading with Him to fulfill this dream quickly as if I was a carton of milk that was about to expire.
I see all these younger women in ministry and they are so successful at such a young age. I feel like they have all the time in the world and my clock is ticking down like the timer on my iPhone.
I often approach God with this frantic impatience asking Him to hurry, hurry, hurry before it’s too late. As I was reading in the book of Genesis this morning, God reminded me of Sarah, and her issues with timing.
After years of praying for a child, Sarah had to come to the realization that it just wasn’t going to happen for her and Abraham. Just as she was about to give up on her dream, God showed up and answered her long-time prayer. She was told that she was going to have a son.
Her response was to laugh out loud. At her age and her stage in life, it was impossible in the natural for her to have a child. But God reminded her that nothing was too hard for the Lord.
I can imagine what she was thinking:
-After all this time Lord?
-Aren’t you a little late?
God did indeed answer her prayer when she gave birth to Isaac.
God knows your dreams, your hopes, your wishes, and your desires. He also knows the beginning from the end. It is His hand that is weaving the delicate and complex tapestry of our lives. He may seem slow to you, but have faith and believe that He is always on time.
If your dream seems delayed, remember that we walk by faith and not by sight. God is faithful and His timing is perfect.
