In our daily life we produce waste that can be recycled or reused as long as we do a good classification. In Spain, for example, 5 color-coded containers are used to separate garbage, organic and inorganic containers are not enough. On the other hand, there are places where we can take the garbage that does not have a specific container depending on its composition.
It is important to know how to properly classify garbage so that our environment, ecosystem and planet remain intact for the benefit of our health and new generations. Taking care of our planet does not cost us anything and is of great benefit!
Paper and cardboard: Newspapers, books, envelopes, magazines and other papers. Paper bags and containers, cardboard boxes must be disassembled before storage, egg carton. What we should NOT deposit are mixed paper and plastic containers, very dirty papers or tablecloths made of paper and styrofoam.
Containers and plastics: Brick containers, glasses, cans and metal containers, bottles, carafes, caps and other plastic containers, aerosols and sprays, aluminum and non-stick films, styrofoam meat or fruit bowls, fruit nets and rubber gloves. What we should NOT dump are paint cans and chemicals.
Crystal and glass: Glass bottles, mason jars and jars, glasses and glasses. We are NOT allowed to deposit bottles and can closures, lamps and fluorescent lamps, mirrors or window glass, medicine cans or those that have contained toxic and dangerous products in them.
Organic:: Leftover food, fruit bones and shells, coffee filters, tea bags, mussel and mollusk shells, cork stoppers, egg shells, kitchen paper and paper napkins, nut shells, toothpicks, matches and animal droppings. It is important to NOT remove cooking oil, debris, cigarette butts, diapers and feminine hygiene products.
Calm or waste: We deposit in them: rubbish, cigarette butts, diapers and feminine hygiene products, razors, toothbrushes, rubber, vacuum cleaner bags and kitchen sponges. We should NOT dump toys, clothes or batteries.
In countries like Spain, each of these groups is arranged in different containers that can be labeled with a specific color. in the Argentinathe distinctions are less specific; just like in the United States. Inquire with your neighbors about the special features of the individual locations.
Why should we recycle?
Half of the waste that humans produce is organic matter that can be reused as quality fertilizer for plants and plants, avoiding chemical fertilizers.
In the case of inorganic waste, there is the recycling of glass and paper, which represents a saving in the use of raw materials. As for plastic, we can say that recycling in a suitable container prevents the death of many animals.
Finally, it is important to know what hazardous waste is. In that case, we can mention the case of batteries to give you an idea of what happens if they are not recycled. If we don’t recycle batteries (made from mercury and cadmium, very toxic materials), they will go to landfill along with all organic matter. There the mercury escapes and gets into the water, from there to the fish and from there to our organism. A single button cell can contaminate 600,000 liters of water.
