Good News and Bad News, folks.
Bad news first: the asymmetric shell spinner I made had some issues with its design that caused some major operation complications. Combined with family issues, she won’t be able to run at our local competition this year.
That being said, I shot the idea of a custom Ampflow gearbox to @rotaryactuationsystems our of curiosity, and they are building a free prototype of it! Granted I don’t have the motor to test it on, so I’ll be handing it over to a more experienced builder, @alexhrn_! The concept is a 4:1 gearbox reduction then fed into a 2:1 chain reduction, so the robot can lose one of its four wheels and keep moving. Best of all, it keeps the motor from being hit directly by a spinner if they hit the tire! The concept was taken from Sewer Snake and Stinger, who used a similar concept! Will this gearbox suffice? Stay tuned! ——————— battlebots robotwars robotics robotcombat science technology stem
